From October 2010, the national minimum wage rate will be changing…
From October 2010, the national minimum wage rate has changed as follows:-
o – £5.80 to £5.93 an hour for workers aged 21 and over
o – £4.83 to £4.92 an hour for workers aged 18 to 20
o – £3.57 to £3.64 an hour for workers aged 16 to 17
The adult minimum rate has been extended to include employees aged 21 and over, previously the qualifying age for the adult national minimum wage was 22.
Apprentice rate
These rates apply from 1 October 2010 to all apprentices as follows:
o – for apprentices aged under 19: £2.50 per hour
o – for apprentices aged 19 and over, but in the first year of their apprenticeship: £2.50 per hour
