From 1st April 2016 the Government’s new National Living Wage will come into force. This means that all employees aged 25 and over, and not in the first year of an apprenticeship, will be legally entitled to receive at least £7.20 an hour. As an employer it is important that you check which employees will be affected by this change as failure to apply the correct hourly rate can result in significant penalties being issued.
It is important to note that the new rate applies not only to employees but also to workers, agency workers, casual labourers, agricultural workers and apprentices aged 25 and over and in their second year of the apprenticeship.
If you have any queries regarding these changes please contact the payroll department within the office and they will be able to assist you.
